Oh Please.

Breitbart.com has this:

"A lawyer for Rep. Cynthia McKinney, the Georgia congresswoman who had an altercation with a Capitol Police officer, says she was "just a victim of being in Congress while black."

You know what really ticks me off about this, is the fact that there are blacks out there that really do suffer from discrimination and hate, and to blame this incident on her being black insults those who have and do go through real racism.

The truth is she is a diva who thought the rules shouldn't apply to her. And divas come in all colors.

Having said that, this is unacceptable though.

Oh, they be hatin on Jeff again......

This time though they created an entire "parody" site of Protein Wisdom. Imagine the time that went into that? Some people either need to get a life or let go of some serious bitterness.

I find it interesting that the leftwing bloggers that hate Jeff always manage to make fun of the fact that he is a stay at home Dad. Isn't that kind of a win for so called feminism? The woman gets to pursue her career while the husband chooses to stay home? I guess that only works if you are of one political ideology. Conservatives need not apply.

Stuff.

McKinney pulls out the race card to explain her rudeness. A jerk, no matter what color, is still a jerk. I imagine since the Capitol Police are seeking an arrest warrant for her, it was a bit more violent than she is describing.

A reporter approaches Justice Scalia as he is leaving Church to ask a rude question about how he can be unbiased and be a practicing Catholic at the same time. Unacceptable. A bigoted question asked during the Judge's private time. The reporter deserved what he got and more.

Students burn a Mexican flag. We need to get some decent immigration reform though before things get too ugly.

Very Strange.

I watched the interview with Jill Carroll (the journalist just released by her captors) on the news this evening and I felt the same as Jonah at NRO did, that something is just not right about a woman defending her captors in such a manner when they killed her translator in cold blood.

My first thought was Patty Hearst all over again. Jonah mentions it. The Stockholm syndrome. I think this has to be what is going on here.

LGF has more. A video of an interview she gave before her release with her captors apparently. Strange.

UPDATE: Here is an interview with a NBC producer who has met with Jill Carroll. I now understand that these inteviews that Jill made were filmed while she was still not safe. One says what one has to to stay alive. Let's give her the benefit of the doubt here. She has been through hell and at least deserves that.

UPDATE II: The Captain has a statement up from Jill Carroll where she says she was forced to make a propaganda video.

Oh, how I love Peggy Noonan.

She always knows how to get to the root of what it's all about. This time it's about immigration:

"...We loved our country with full-throated love, we had no ambivalence. We had pride and appreciation. We were a free country. We communicated our pride and delight in this in a million ways--in our schools, our movies, our popular songs, our newspapers. It was just there, in the air.

Immigrants breathed it in. That's how the last great wave of immigrants, the European wave of 1880-1920, was turned into a great wave of Americans.

We are not assimilating our immigrants patriotically now. We are assimilating them culturally. Within a generation their children speak Valley Girl on cell phones. "So I'm like 'no," and he's all 'yeah,' and I'm like, 'In your dreams.' " Whether their parents are from Trinidad, Bosnia, Lebanon or Chile, their children, once Americans, know the same music, the same references, watch the same shows. And to a degree and in a way it will hold them together. But not forever and not in a crunch.

So far we are assimilating our immigrants economically, too. They come here and work. Good.

But we are not communicating love of country. We are not giving them the great legend of our country. We are losing that great legend.

What is the legend, the myth? That God made this a special place. That they're joining something special. That the streets are paved with more than gold--they're paved with the greatest thoughts man ever had, the greatest decisions he ever made, about how to live. We have free thought, free speech, freedom of worship. Look at the literature of the Republic: the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Federalist papers. Look at the great rich history, the courage and sacrifice, the house-raisings, the stubbornness. The Puritans, the Indians, the City on a Hill.

The genius cluster--Jefferson, Hamilton, Adams, Madison, Franklin, all the rest--that came along at the exact same moment to lead us. And then Washington, a great man in the greatest way, not in unearned gifts well used (i.e., a high IQ followed by high attainment) but in character, in moral nature effortfully developed. How did that happen? How did we get so lucky? (I once asked a great historian if he had thoughts on this, and he nodded. He said he had come to believe it was "providential.")

We fought a war to free slaves. We sent millions of white men to battle and destroyed a portion of our nation to free millions of black men. What kind of nation does this? We went to Europe, fought, died and won, and then taxed ourselves to save our enemies with the Marshall Plan. What kind of nation does this? Soviet communism stalked the world and we were the ones who steeled ourselves and taxed ourselves to stop it. Again:

What kind of nation does this?

Only a very great one. Maybe the greatest of all.

Do we teach our immigrants that this is what they're joining? That this is the tradition they will now continue, and uphold?"

She goes on:

"Those who teach, and who think for a living about American history, need to be told: Keep the text, teach the text, and only then, if you must, deconstruct the text.

When you don't love something you lose it. If we do not teach new Americans to love their country, and not for braying or nationalistic reasons but for reasons of honest and thoughtful appreciation, and gratitude, for a history that is something new in the long story of man, then we will begin to lose it. That Medal of Honor winner, Leo Thorsness, who couldn't quite find the words--he only found it hard to put everything into words because he knew the story, the legend, and knew it so well. Only then do you become "emotional about it." Only then are you truly American."

Read the whole thing.

I want one of these....

So cool.

Another voice heard....

Two more women die from the abortion pill.

10 years ago Charmain Yoest of Reasoned Audacity wrote an article in The Wall Street Journal asking how many women needed to be guinea pigs for RU486? I guess seven dead aren't enough.

Update: Since andy decided to get all smug over at his site about this post, I decided to respond here since his comments are disabled. First off, does anyone see any reference to religion in this post? I didn't think so either, but andy seems to see religion in everything and for an atheist I have to wonder about that. But anyway, he seems to think comparing apples to oranges makes his point, but maybe this article (not religious!! I promise) will convince him otherwise: (emphasis mine)

"The Food and Drug Administration must pull RU-486 instead of adding a warning label by the manufacturer. Two more recent deaths have been reported along with 850 serious complications. If these women did not receive immediate medical treatment as they did, they would have been fatalities also. Taking the facts from the FDA, if 10 percent of cases suffered by medication are reported, then there were over 8,500 complications and 70 deaths. According to the New England Journal of Medicine (December 2005), "RU-486 abortions are 10 times more likely to kill a woman, from infection alone, than are surgical abortions in early pregnancy." In the past, the FDA had removed other drugs that had a lower number of deaths and complications. What's so special about RU-486 that the FDA allows it to remain on the market? It is no wonder some pharmacists will not fill the prescription for RU-486. Some of these pharmacists have lost their jobs, unless their state has a law that protects them. Does Florida? "

Notice the part about the FDA removing other drugs that had a lower number of deaths and complications? THAT is what this post was about.

Aging gracefully...

Who are you going to believe?

Our soldiers who are risking their lives every day or a New York Times Reporter?

4 Mile Creek:

Not that anyone should believe an Iraqi soldier, especially if what he says contradicts what a NYTs reporter is writing about Iraq from poolside at the Palestine Hotel, but occasionally the Iraqi soldiers talk about what's going on in their country. And occasionally what they say is worth listening to.

"I tell all of those that go through this course (commando - ed) that first and foremost you are Iraqi" Al-Barwarie said. "It doesn't matter how much money you have, where your family comes from, or what your religious background is, you are an Iraqi soldier, and you have to put the country above all else."

Another commando talks as if he actually believes in what he's doing.

"When I was young, I dreamed of becoming Special Forces," said Ali. "I had seen movies of the U.S. Special Forces and wanted to be like them."

And why would Ali want to be like the SOF? To be better at inciting sectarian violence? To be able to participate in the long-predicted but never appearing NYTs civil war? Not really. Seems Ali is just another jingoistic flag-waving patriot at heart, although his flag happens to be red, green and black instead of red, white and blue.

"The Iraqi people are tired of the terrorists, extremeists, and instability, and this unit fights that....I am very proud that I am part of this special unit that will help stabilize this country," he said. "The terrorists have had their time. This is our time now."

Yes it is Ali. I sure hope you get enough time to do the job before the Leftists worldwide join cause with the Islamists in your country, and cut your throat.

4 Mile Creek has more on why the soldiers might know more than the "intellectuals."

And an interesting comment in the thread:

Once you've played with the kids over here, and found out that they are just like your own kids, the nuke option is out the window. That's one of the reasons soldiers are willing to come back here. They know that the islamists need to be killed, and we want to make sure we kill only the islamists, even as they hide among the Iraqis and their children.

Ok....

Now this ticks me off.

The Last Helicopter.

Powerline has this from Amir Taheri's Wall Street Journal column: "The last helicopter." Taheri writes:

"To hear Mr. Abbasi tell it the entire recent history of the U.S. could be narrated with the help of the image of "the last helicopter." It was that image in Saigon that concluded the Vietnam War under Gerald Ford. Jimmy Carter had five helicopters fleeing from the Iranian desert, leaving behind the charred corpses of eight American soldiers. Under Ronald Reagan the helicopters carried the corpses of 241 Marines murdered in their sleep in a Hezbollah suicide attack. Under the first President Bush, the helicopter flew from Safwan, in southern Iraq, with Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf aboard, leaving behind Saddam Hussein's generals, who could not believe why they had been allowed live to fight their domestic foes, and America, another day. Bill Clinton's helicopter was a Black Hawk, downed in Mogadishu and delivering 16 American soldiers into the hands of a murderous crowd.

According to this theory, President George W. Bush is an "aberration," a leader out of sync with his nation's character and no more than a brief nightmare for those who oppose the creation of an "American Middle East." Messrs. Abbasi and Ahmadinejad have concluded that there will be no helicopter as long as George W. Bush is in the White House. But they believe that whoever succeeds him, Democrat or Republican, will revive the helicopter image to extricate the U.S. from a complex situation that few Americans appear to understand.

Mr. Ahmadinejad's defiant rhetoric is based on a strategy known in Middle Eastern capitals as "waiting Bush out." "We are sure the U.S. will return to saner policies," says Manuchehr Motakki, Iran's new Foreign Minister.

Mr. Ahmadinejad believes that the world is heading for a clash of civilizations with the Middle East as the main battlefield. In that clash Iran will lead the Muslim world against the "Crusader-Zionist camp" led by America. Mr. Bush might have led the U.S. into "a brief moment of triumph." But the U.S. is a "sunset" (ofuli) power while Iran is a sunrise (tolu'ee) one and, once Mr. Bush is gone, a future president would admit defeat and order a retreat as all of Mr. Bush's predecessors have done since Jimmy Carter.

Mr. Ahmadinejad also notes that Iran has just "reached the Mediterranean" thanks to its strong presence in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and the Palestinian territories. He used that message to convince Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to adopt a defiant position vis-Ã -vis the U.N. investigation of the murder of Rafiq Hariri, a former prime minister of Lebanon. His argument was that once Mr. Bush is gone, the U.N., too, will revert to its traditional lethargy. "They can pass resolutions until they are blue in the face," Mr. Ahmadinejad told a gathering of Hezbollah, Hamas and other radical Arab leaders in Tehran last month.
***
It is not only in Tehran and Damascus that the game of "waiting Bush out" is played with determination. In recent visits to several regional capitals, this writer was struck by the popularity of this new game from Islamabad to Rabat. The general assumption is that Mr. Bush's plan to help democratize the heartland of Islam is fading under an avalanche of partisan attacks inside the U.S. The effect of this assumption can be witnessed everywhere. "

The other day I was watching MSNBC and the reporter was reporting on some of those papers we have found in Iraq and on why Saddam didn't give up. The reporter said that Saddam related in the papers that America would not abide by casualtiess. He said Bosnia and Somalia proved that. He just didn't believe we would attempt a ground war because we had shown no backbone before. This is exactly what this article is about. What may seem compassionate to some back in the States, is seen as cowardness in the Middle East.

If we want to win this war, we better have learned this lesson.

Don't drink the water....

BLACKSTONE, Mass. (AP) -- Residents of two towns were ordered to stop using water from their taps after someone broke into the area's supply facility and left behind a 5-gallon container that had an odor.

Authorities have ruled out terrorism, and the FBI has decided not to pursue the case, Dr. David Gifford, director of the Rhode Island Health Department, said Tuesday at a news conference.

The ban remained in effect while the container and water were being tested for biological or chemical contaminants, he said. Results were not expected until Wednesday at the earliest.

The system serves nearly 9,000 residents in Blackstone and about four dozen homes in neighboring North Smithfield, R.I. There have been no reports of illness.

I don't know what is wrong with me.

I'm just in a mood to not post anything serious. Look at these pictures of Britney Spears grocery shopping with her baby. First off, I never look that bad grocery shopping or going out anywhere and no one is waiting to take my picture all the time either. What is up with that? Second of all, Doesn't she have like a zillion dollars??? If I had a zillion dollars I would pay someone to shop for me. I would never go into a grocery store again as long as I lived. They are evil. I hate them. Finally, I have four children. I NEVER took them to the grocery store. They don't like it. It's makes the experience miserable if they start crying. I always either traded with a friend to watch while I shopped or did the shopping while they were at Mother's Day Out.

Britney is just weird. Someone needs to do a redneck intervention or something.

Have you heard about this?

A blog turned to a novel. "Gus Openshaw's Whale-Killing Journal." by Keith Thomson.

"Thanks for your extensive coverage of the administration's amnesty plan for illegals. Whenever I hear our president claim that illegal aliens are needed to do the "jobs Americans won't do," I can only think of three words:
West Virginia miners.

Bush's comments are a slap in the face to those hardworking Americans!"

First of all, miners are paid quite well. Which is why they take the job. Do you think they would do that job for minimum wage? Hell no. It works out for that industry that they can still make a profit paying that well. If you paid Americans $40 an hour to clean stadium restrooms for example, you might find some Americans to do it as well.

"Be silent and make all physical movements slow."

This is the sign being put up in front on Tom Cruise's mansion. You see, according to Scientology all births must be competely SILENT. (how the women do that, I will never know) In addition,
according to this article"newborns cannot be poked or prodded for medical tests or even spoken to for the first seven days of their lives, believing that babies go through so much pain during the birth, they shouldn't have to experience any further discomfort or sensory experience that could return later in life to haunt them."

The two sides of a spirtual battle.

More than 25,000 evangelical Christian youth came to a 2 day rally in San Francisco Friday. "Battle Cry for a Generation" is led by a 44-year-old Concord native, Ron Luce, who wants "God's instruction book" to guide young people away from the corrupting influence of popular culture" that he says "glamorizes violence and sex."

Supervisor Tom Ammiano authored a condemnation resolution for the Christian youth group. The Board of Supervisors passed the resolution condemning the "act of provocation" by what it termed an "anti-gay," "anti-choice" organization that aimed to "negatively influence the politics of America's most tolerant and progressive city."

An interesting look at the two sides. The story is here.

Illegal Aliens. How We Move Forward Is Important.

Anyone who has read my posts on illegal aliens from Mexico knows that I tend to have a soft spot for those simply trying to make a better life and not being able to get through the red tape of legal immigration.

Interestingly, one of the meanest bunch of e-mails I have ever gotten was from those living in Arizona regarding the border issue. I'm not sure politicians truly understand how much this issue means to many people.

Seeing the immigration rallies on TV, I was as disturbed as many people with all the Mexican flags. That does not garner too much sympathy with most Americans I'm afraid. But it doesn't matter. If we try to put into legislation any more of a criminal offense on the illegal alien it will bomb. Democrats will only use it to make us into the bad guys. In my opinion, any more legislation needs to be directed at those who hire illegals, not the illegals themselves. And certainly not at charities helping illegals.

There are two separate issues here. First is to stop illegal immigration. I'm not sure of the answer. Some say a wall. Some say a vast increase in border control. Those things are fine with me. Focusing on that should be primary. Who can really argue with legislation trying to stop something that we all agree is illegal?

The 2nd issue is what to do with 12 million illegal aliens already here. This is where we must tread lightly. Deporting them all is impossible and would be a PR disaster and we just have to face that fact. Many Republicans are angry at Bush for proposing the Guest Worker program, but to me it makes the most sense. It is creating a way to make these people legal. We will then know who they are and they can work legally and pay taxes ect.

Yes, I know that it isn't "fair" that they get "rewarded" for breaking the law. But it also isn't fair that we sit around shouting at one another and nothing gets done. It only gets worse.

If we can show some compassion with a Guest Worker program, then I think it would be a lot easier to push through legislation to stop illegal immigration and not look bad in the Hispanic community. And whether we want to admit it or not, this is important. Very important.

While Gore won 65 percent of the Hispanic vote, holding Bush to a mere 35 percent, Kerry only carried the Hispanic vote by 55-45. Which most certainly helped Bush win.

Since Hispanics cast 12 percent of the vote in 2004, their 10-point movement to the GOP gave the president an additional 1.2 percent of the national vote.

We cannot afford to lose the that gain. It isn't just about the illegals. It's about the Hispanic community at large. It's about showing them that we care about their issues. And they care about this issue.
